Chocolate Hugs
Earlier this week Warren and Kathleen encouraged us to nurture our souls. They suggested walks, reading, and my personal favorite, eating chocolate mousse! So as a means to promote peace and happiness and recharge the old battery, we offer you Warren’s delicious chocolate mousse recipe.
Ingredients
2 whole eggs
4 egg yolks
18 oz choc chips
2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
Directions
In a small bowl, beat all of the eggs together and set aside. In a medium sauce pan melt the choc chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Add the egg mixture, whisking quickly until well blended. Remove from the heat. In a medium bowl beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the powder sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into the choc mixture until well blended. Spoon into dishes and chill for at least 6 hours.
Enjoy this beautiful day and do something to nourish your soul! And when you are done, please fill us in on the wonderful details!
Chocolate Mousse and Nurturing- Warren Matson
In keeping with the themes talked about by Becky and Kathleen, and following up my last posts about nurturing and affirming strength, here is a Warren tie in!
Nurturing requires that I respond to things outside of myself, not react to them. I talk about this a great deal in my book (Relax, It’s Just Life!). But to do this, we have to accept our core beliefs and to do that we must grieve! But the beauty of grieving is acceptance, which frees us up not only to nurture others, but also ourselves.
I brought a chocolate Mousse over to a neighborhood party this weekend. We were all enjoying the evening over snacks and drinks, and after a bit the sweets came out. Now a tidbit about me. I love to cook things that make people go “yummmmm!!!” Well, I cut the mousse into squares and dished it out. What happened next just made me smile!
One woman after another took a bite and the “Oh my God’s!” began. Different inflections, same reaction! One after another after another! Mouths still full of chocolaty goodness! The final judgment was that I had to name my recipe “Oh my God Mousse!”
And so today while sitting in a construction zone I reflected on mousse and women and nurturing. Women like rich chocolate because it nurtures them. And how often do you let yourselves go there, and tell yourselves you need and deserve it!? You can’t nurture anyone else if you won’t nurture your own soul ladies! So here it is for the week.
- Don’t be afraid of who you are deep down. It just is what it is, and has nothing to do with what you become!
- Seeing yourself honestly will lead to tears. Just let it out, because nothing good comes without pain!
- Nurture your souls! Walks, a good book, chocolate mousse! Whatever brings you peace and happiness, and gives you what you need within to fuel you so you can then nurture those around you!
